Truckload Trucking Fleet Design and Analytics

Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at 12:00 PM until 1:00 PMCentral Standard Time UTC -06:00

    Presented by Dr. Kerry Melton

The importance of designing a truckload trucking fleet to meet customer needs and measuring performance has dramatically increased over the last several years as the U.S. economy has expanded and experienced supply chain disruptions and anomalies. Different markets have experienced population growth and contraction, infrastructure problems, product demand changes, and labor availability issues resulting in inefficient and costly transportation fleet operations.  Truck driver needs and availability have presented additional challenges to the transportation industry.

Global competition has also created the need to further drive down costs and strategize the creation of efficient transportation fleets to transport product from manufacturers, suppliers, distribution centers, and other locations to end customers.

This presentation will consider how to plan and design a truckload trucking fleet with emphasis on data, driver and truck planning, and techniques to create a highly utilized, less costly, and executable trucking fleet.  The presentation will also focus on developing key performance indices and analytics to track and measure operational fleet performance.
